Chords used:

D - XX0232
Dsus4 - XX0233
D/F# - 200032
Em7 - 022033
Em7/D - 020032 (I don't know what this one is called, but it'll do)
G/D - 320032
G/B - X20033
A/G - X02233
In the acoustic version on Going Somewhere he generally doesn't play the high notes on
chord for most of the strumming. What he plays in the verse is something like this:
x1 x1 x2 x1
G D G G G/D C D G G G/D C D Em G G/D C D G G G/D
e|----------3--2---------------3--2-------------3--2--------------3--2--|
B|----------3--3---------------3--3-------------3--3--------------3--3--|
G|-0--2--0--0--0------0--2--0--0--0----0--2--0--0--0-----0--2--0--0--0--|
D|-0--0--0--0--0------2--0--0--0--0----2--0--2--0--0-----2--0--0--0--0--|
A|-2-----2------------3-----2----------3-----2-----------3-----2--------|
E|-3-----3------------------3----------------0-----------------3--------|
If you're playing alone then it may be preferable to play the full chords, in which case
the G - G/D change over I recommend strumming the chords:
e|-3--2---------------------------3-2----------------------------|
B|-3--3---------------------------3-3----------------------------|
G|-0--0-for the bit after the G---0-0-for the bit after the Em7--|
D|-0--0---------------------------2-0----------------------------|
A|-2--2---------------------------2-2----------------------------|
E|-3------------------------------0-0----------------------------|
Mostly because unless you are stupidly dextrous it is difficult to change over on the
string whilst keeping the chord formation, as its done quickly you don't notice the
notes.
G D G G/D
My my my it's a beautiful world
Cadd9 D G G/D
I like swimming in the sea
Cadd9 D Em7 Em7/D
I like to go out beyond the white breakers
Cadd9 D Em7 Em7/D
Where a man can still be free, or a woman if you are one
Cadd9 D G G/D
I like swimming in the sea
This is the same for the whole song except for a bridge part which is played after the
verse:
x3
e|--3--2--3--3--3----------------------3--2--3--3--3--3--3--3--3--2-|
B|--3--3--3--3--3----------------------3--3--3--3--3--3--3--3--3--3-|
G|--0--0--0--0--2----and the 4th time--0--0--0--0--0--0--0--0--2--2-|
D|--0--0--2--2--0----------------------0--0--2--2--2--0--2--0--2--0-|
A|--2--0--2--3-------------------------2--0--2--3--3--2-----2-------|
E|--3--2--0----------------------------3--2--0--------------3-------|
The end bit of that is played quite quickly with one strum of each chord on the last
like this:
G D/F# Em7 Cadd9 Dsus4
All around is anger, Automatic guns
G D/F# Em7 Cadd9 Dsus4 G
There's death in large numbers no respect for women or our little ones
G D/F# Em7 Cadd9 Dsus4 G
Tried talking to Jesus, but he just put me on hold
G D/F# Em7 Cadd9 Cadd9 G/B A/G G
Said he's been swamped by calls this week and he could not shake his
Dsus4 D
cold
And then back to the verse.
One last thing, on the "Man At Work" album there is more electric version of this song,
which variations of the following little riff are used during the verse, it works well
the acoustic version if you have a spare guitarist handy:
e|------3-2---3---2h3------3-----3-----3-----3------|
B|----3------------------3---3-----3-----3----------|
G|--0-------0---0------0-------0-----0-----0--------|
D|--------------------------------------------------|
A|--------------------------------------------------|
E|--------------------------------------------------|
PLAY TOO ..
