Solo Sections:
Note: Always stay within C9 if you're walking or taking a solo. If you
get lost, you can go into C Blues. Going to the 4 Chord (F9), is also
acceptable. This is the most basic solo line:
G|------------------------|
D|------------------------|
A|-3-3---3-1--------1-3---|
E|-----------3--1-3-------|
If you decide to go to the 4 Chord:
G|------------------------|
D|-3-3---3-1--------1-3---|
A|-----------3--1-3-------|
E|------------------------|
When I say "if you decide" to go to the 4 Chord, I am not implying
that the bass player should just randomly switch to the 4 Chord at his
own will. The band must make the decision to stay in C or exit
(usually) the solo section in the 4 Chord. Usually, if it's a big band
and everyone takes a solo, or it's just long solos for everyone, it
will usually be done in C and just taken to the top after that. In a
short solo section, it's often 8 bars of C and 4 of F.
